Hyderabad’s Own Mexican Escape

Mexarosa had been on our list for a while - the kind of place that promises bold flavours, a lively atmosphere, and a proper taste of Mexico right in Hyderabad. From the moment we walked in, the energy felt right vibrant, fun, and full of colour. The menu looked ambitious, blending authentic Latin roots with a clear Indian sensibility. Naturally, we went all in, ordering a mix of crowd favourites and a few wild cards. Some dishes blew us away, some were simply good, and one or two left us wondering what went wrong.

Here's What I Had

Mojo Pork Carnitas - Rs 595

This was hands down the best dish of the night. The pork was insanely juicy, cooked to perfection, and packed with flavor. It had that perfect balance of smokiness and spice, making it impossible to stop eating. In fact, we loved it so much that we ordered it twice, which should tell you everything you need to know. If you visit Mexarosa, this is a must order.

Paneer El Pastor - Rs 525

Yugadi picked this one, and honestly, it was a great choice! The paneer was incredibly fresh, soft, and packed with flavors that made every bite a delight. But if you ask me whether it tasted Mexican ? well, that’s up for debate. The flavors leaned heavily towards Indian spices, making it feel more like a fusion dish rather than something straight out of a taqueria. That said, it was delicious, and we had zero complaints.

Lamb Birria - Rs 595

Another absolute winner. The lamb was incredibly tender and soaked in deep, rich flavors that made every bite a treat. We literally finished this in under five minutes ! no exaggeration. The chefs at Mexarosa clearly know what they’re doing because this dish was executed flawlessly. If you’re a fan of birria, you’re going to love this.

Enchiladas Chipotle Chicken - Rs 625

This one was a heavy hitter. Rich, bold, and full of smoky chipotle flavors, the enchiladas weren’t just tasty, they packed a serious punch. If you’re someone who enjoys intense flavors and a good dose of spice, this one’s right up your alley. Just be prepared it’s on the heavier side, so don’t expect something light and fresh.

Mexarosa Chicken Bites - Rs 545

If you’re into fiery, spicy food, these chicken bites will hit the spot. They were hot like, properly spicy but they were also incredibly tasty. Every bite had this addictive crunch, and the heat just built up with each one. If you love a good kick, go for it. Just be ready for the burn!

El Tesoro - Rs 895

Mexarosa’s cocktail menu looked insanely spectacular , so we figured we had to try at least one. We went with El Tesoro, and at first, it was nice smooth, balanced, and pretty enjoyable. But after a while, it started to taste a bit like Benadryl, which was weird. Maybe it was just our taste buds playing tricks on us, but it wasn’t something we’d order again for sure.

Churros Rs 395

Well this was the only real disappointment of the night. After such an incredible lineup of savory dishes, we had high hopes for dessert, but the churros just didn’t hit the mark. They were pretty average, nothing special, and definitely not something we’d go back for. If you’re looking for a sweet ending, you might want to skip this and stick to the mains. This was so bad that I didn’t even bother to take a picture of it

Final Thoughts

Mexarosa turned out to be a lively and flavour-packed dining experience that’s full of highs and just a few lows. When they get it right - like the Mojo Pork Carnitas or the Lamb Birria - it’s pure brilliance: perfectly cooked meats, layered flavours, and just the right amount of indulgence. Even the Paneer El Pastor, though more fusion than Mexican, had its charm. But the misses - the disappointing Churros and that oddly medicinal El Tesoro cocktail - remind you that consistency is key. Still, the food’s heart is in the right place, and for anyone craving fiery plates, hearty portions, and a touch of experimentation, Mexarosa makes for a pretty memorable stop in Hyderabad’s dining scene.
